Frequently asked questions
Float therapy (also called sensory deprivation or REST – Restricted Environmental Stimulation Therapy) involves lying in a specialized pod filled with 11 inches of warm water and over 1,000 lbs. of dissolved Epsom salt. This creates a gravity-free, zero-stimulus environment that allows your mind and body to deeply relax.
We will require a release from your primary care doctor before you will be allowed to float. Pregnant clients may experience some of the greatest relief from floating—physically and mentally. The added weight and pressure on the mother’s body is likely to cause pain and discomfort, the weightless impact of floating can provide much relief! Many clients report a unique and memorable experience floating while pregnant.
Epsom salt is a natural antimicrobial and, due to the high salt content in our Pods, bacteria simply can't live in the water. That said, we also have two filtration systems that cycle all of the water in the Pod 4 to 5 times between users, a bromine system, AND an ozone/UV sanitation system. It's likely the cleanest water you'll ever be in!
The saltwater used in float therapy will not harm your hair, especially if it’s healthy and untreated. However, if you’ve recently dyed or chemically treated your hair (such as bleaching, perming, or relaxing), we recommend waiting at least 7 days before floating to prevent potential color fading or reactions with the salt.
Each Float Pod contains just 10 inches of highly concentrated saltwater, making it incredibly buoyant — no swimming skills required. You’ll float effortlessly on the surface.
As for falling asleep? We actually encourage it. Many people drift off during their session, and thanks to the deeply relaxed theta brainwave state floating promotes, one hour in the pod can feel like four hours of restful sleep.
Worried about rolling over? It’s nearly impossible due to how supported your body is. But if it does happen, the sting of saltwater in your eyes will gently wake you. No need to panic — there’s a fresh water spray bottle inside the pod to rinse and refresh immediately.
You can float as often as you’d like! There are no adverse effects of regular float therapy — aside from feeling extremely relaxed.
Many people float once a week for ongoing wellness, while others float more or less depending on their needs. There’s no limit to how much "doing nothing" your mind and body can benefit from.
You’ll shower before and after your float in a private room with everything you need provided. Inside the pod, you can float with the lid open or closed, with lights and music on or off; your experience is all up to you. The water supports you effortlessly, and many people begin to feel tension and stress melt away within minutes.
