Your First Float: What to Know Before, During, and After Your Session

Whether you're new to floating or it's been a while since your last session, preparing properly can make all the difference in your experience. Here’s everything you need to know before you float, what to bring, and what to expect after your session.

Before You Float:

To ensure a safe and comfortable float, please keep the following guidelines in mind:

Give Your Skin Time to Heal You must be at least 14 days past any new tattoo, spray tan, or minor surgery. Skin should be fully healed before entering the pod.

Ladies, Please Reschedule If... If you’re on your menstrual cycle the day of your float, please call us to reschedule. Thank you for your understanding.

Come with a Clear Mind and Body Floating under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited.

Skip the Stimulants Avoid caffeine, nicotine, or any other stimulants for at least 6 hours before you float to maximize relaxation.

Protect Your Skin Avoid shaving, waxing, or tanning the day of your session, as these can increase skin sensitivity in the salty water.

Fuel Up, But Lightly Be moderately hydrated and, if you’re hungry, eat a light meal about 90 minutes before your appointment.

Clean Water, Guaranteed Rest assured — our Float Pods are incredibly clean. Each pod filters all water 3–5 times between users. The high salt content naturally inhibits bacteria, and we also use ultraviolet sanitation and ozone purification for added safety.

What to Bring: Keep It Simple

You don’t need much for your float, but a few essentials can enhance your experience:

Easy Clothing Wear something easy to change in and out of. Each pod room includes a private shower with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided.

Contacts Case (If Applicable) If you wear contact lenses, bring a case. You can float with them in, but salt water + contacts = not a great mix if it gets in your eyes.

Swimsuit? Not Necessary We recommend floating nude to reduce sensory input, but swimsuits are allowed if that makes you more comfortable.

Ear Protection We offer complimentary ear plugs if you prefer to keep water out of your ears. Forgot to use them? No worries—a mix of vinegar and rubbing alcohol (available on site) helps clear it up, and we provide Q-tips too.

Post-Float Touch-Ups We have a hairdryer and lotion available, but feel free to bring your own brush or makeup if you want to freshen up after your float.

During Your Float: Just Breathe

Here’s what to expect when you step into the pod:

Start with a Quick Shower This helps rinse off oils, lotions, and dirt before you float.

Enter the Pod Each pod contains about 11 inches of water infused with 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt. It’s warm, soothing, and incredibly buoyant.

Customize Your Experience The pod lid is on hydraulic arms—leave it open or close it. Inside, you can control the lights (choose a soft color or total darkness) and music. Prefer silence? That’s an option too.

Relax and Let Go Lie back and let the water support you. It may feel a bit awkward at first, and any aches or tension may be more noticeable—just breathe and give your body time to adjust.

Need Assistance? There’s an intercom inside the pod to contact a staff member if needed. And if you accidentally touch your face, there’s a spray bottle of fresh water in the pod to help rinse off any salt.

Your Time is Yours When your float ends, you’ll be gently notified. Take your time getting out, enjoy a refreshing shower, and get dressed at your own pace.

After You Float: Let the Benefits Sink In The benefits last beyond your session:

Hydrate Drink plenty of water after your session. We’ll even provide a complimentary bottle to get you started.

Notice the Difference Take note of how you feel—not just immediately after, but in the hours and days that follow. Do you feel more relaxed? Sleep better? Experience less pain or tension?

Make It a Routine The benefits of floatation therapy build over time. The more regularly you float, the longer those positive effects tend to last.

See You Again Soon!

We hope you loved your float. Don’t forget to schedule your next session before you leave — your mind and body will thank you.
